This position is located in the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) based in New York. The Associate Statistician will report to a Senior Statistician in the Cost of Living Division (COLD).
工作內(nèi)容
Within delegated authority, the Associate Statistician will be responsible for the following duties:
? Assists in calculating, organizing, planning and managing the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation and dissemination of statistical data for the UN common system duty stations.
? Updates Post Adjustment indices taking into account inflation rates, exchange rate changes and other relevant parameters.
? Screens, verifies and runs consistency tests of statistical information used for cost-of-living measurements
? Assists in developing, implementing and managing statistical databases.
? Assists in training and providing technical support for data collection programmes, country practices and supervises cost-of-living data collection in the field.
? Assists in the development or revision of standards on statistical concepts, definitions and classifications by performing methodological research.
? Prepares draft technical documents for the meetings of the Advisory Committee on Post Adjustment Questions (ACPAQ) and other bodies carrying out work related to the mandate of the Commission.
? Assists in the organization of seminars, working groups and expert meetings.
? Guides, trains and supervises General Service and Professional staff in the performance of their functions.
? Performs other duties as assigned.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in in statistics, mathematics, economics, sociology or related field. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in the specified fields with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A first-level degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

語言要求
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
