This position is located in the Peacekeeping Section of the Medical Services Division, Office of Human Resources Management, Department of Management.

工作內(nèi)容

Responsible on a day to day basis for supporting field missions to implement systems of safety and quality in their clinical health care services. Advises key partners in field medical facilities towards process improvement and risk identification and reduction, to support reduction of medical and health care errors, and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.

Establishes a system for reporting and managing adverse events in UN operated and TCC operated healthcare facilities. Teaches and leads Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis meetings called to review serious and/or reportable events with the involved parties.

Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of medical and nursing care by reviewing and analyzing existing international standards and formulating recommendations for standards that are applicable in UN medical facilities in coordination with civilian and military medical personnel at headquarter and field level.

Assists the Medical Director in the design and implementation of a compliance and accountability framework for medical safety and health care standards by review and analysis of existing frameworks inside and outside the UN context. Continuously monitors and analyses the compliance of implemented medical and nursing standards and advise the Medical Director on breaches by establishing close reporting relationships with medical personnel and focal points in field medical facilities and by designing and conducting client satisfaction surveys.

Provides management support and expertise to civilian and military implementing bodies (Chief Medical Officers, Field Medical Officers, Hospital Commanders) in areas of patient safety by monitoring the quality and progress of root cause analyses and follow-up actions to ensure implementation of system changes.

Develops strategies to disseminate "lessons learned" by closely collaborating with HQ and field medical and administrative partners

專(zhuān)業(yè)要求

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in an area of health practice, such as medicine, nursing, allied health, health sciences, health service management or healthcare quality and safety. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in a health care setting is required. Of this, four (4) years of experience in a hospital setting and at least three (3) years of dedicated practical experience in healthcare safety and quality management is required. Experience in an international environment is desirable.

語(yǔ)言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
