This position is located in the Russian Translation and Text Processing Section (RTTS) of the Conference Management Service (CMS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
The incumbent will be working under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Section.
工作內(nèi)容
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
? Revise translations covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations and other organizations that use the common services, while maintaining established UN workload standards and recognized quality norms;
? Translate, mostly without revision, texts on such subjects, in particular those of a sensitive nature or requiring experience and recognized proficiency, while maintaining established UN workload standards and recognized quality norms;
? Develop new terminology for use where none exists in the target language;
? Carry out linguistic research and, as appropriate, prepare terminological bulletins and glossaries, technical vocabularies and related reference tools;
? Counsel and assist translators and brief them on the procedures and practices of the Section, terminology and a broad range of subjects, as required;
? Serve as team leader on conference shifts, including early-morning, late or night shifts and participate in drafting and other conference-related groups, as assigned;
? Assist the Chief in quality control activities and/or serve as officer-in-charge of the Section in the absence of the Chief and of other officers-in-charge, as required;
? Perform other related duties as required.

專業(yè)要求
A first-level degree from a university or from an institution of equivalent status. Must have passed the United Nations Language Competitive Examination (LCE) for Russian Translators.
工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in translation, preferably three as a Russian self-revising translator/reviser in the United Nations. Knowledge of electronic terminology databases, electronic referencing, CAT tools and other relevant software used in the United Nations required.

A perfect command of Russian and excellent knowledge of English and another official United Nations language are required.
