This position is located in the Human Rights Treaties Branch Division in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva. Geneva is classified as a "H" hardship duty station and a family duty station. The incumbent reports to the Chief, Groups in Focus Section under the general supervision of the Chief of Branch.

工作內(nèi)容

Within delegated authority, the Human Rights Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

? Servicing the meetings of any of the following human rights treaty bodies and their working groups: Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW); Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC); Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (CMW); and Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD;
? Drafting lists of issues, lists of issues prior to reporting and concluding observations in the context of the consideration of States parties' reports by human rights treaty bodies;
? Preparing legal analysis and drafts legal background papers for human rights treaty bodies, related both to state reporting procedures and treaty based complaints procedures;
? Drafting correspondence with States parties, specialized agencies, other UN bodies, non-governmental organizations and individuals in relation to the reporting process and individual complaints procedure and other issues related to the implementation of core international human rights Treaties including inquiries;
? Drafting studies and/or reports on the emerging jurisprudence of the UN human rights treaty bodies;
? Providing input to outreach and information tasks ;
? Supporting the work of the Universal Human Rights Index.
? The incumbent will also perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Section and/or the Chief of Branch.

專業(yè)要求

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, human rights, political science or international relations, or other related disciplines. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)

Required experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, international relations, law or related area.
- Experience in drafting analytical papers on human rights.

Desired experience:
- Experience coordinating and organizing meetings in the area of human rights or related field.

語(yǔ)言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in English and knowledge of another UN official language is required. Knowledge of a third UN official language is an asset.
