This position is located in the Human Rights Treaties Branch in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva. Geneva is classified as a "H" hardship duty station and a family duty station. The incumbent reports to the Chief of the Capacity Building and Harmonization Section.
工作內(nèi)容
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
? Serves as Secretary of the Annual Meeting of Chairpersons of Human Rights Treaty Bodies.
? Strengthens the research and analysis support capacity of the Secretariat of the Annual Meeting of Chairpersons of Treaty Bodies as well as other human rights treaty bodies.
? Prepares documentation for the Annual Meeting sessions, including the annual report of the Treaty Bodies Chairpersons to the General Assembly.
? Prepares draft-guidelines for following-up to Annual Meeting recommendations.
? Coordinates with the Secretariats of all treaty bodies the programme of work of the Annual Meeting and organizes regular internal meetings of the Secretaries of treaty bodies.
? Demonstrates leadership to facilitate change and improvements of working methods and procedures of the treaty bodies.
? Keeps track of the implementation of GA resolution 68/268 on the strengthening of the human rights treaty body system.
? Prepares, including through data collection and consultation of key stakeholders, the biennial Secretary General report under GA resolution 68/268.
? Participates, including through drafting background and other papers, to the strengthening of the human rights treaty bodies.
? Supervises more junior staff.
? Prepares various treaty bodies outreach tools and publications.
? Services the meetings of the Chairpersons of Treaty Bodies their working groups,
? Prepares legal analyses and drafts legal background papers for the human rights treaty bodies
? Perform any other related duties as required.

Ability to conduct data collection using various methods. Knowledge of international human rights law and standards; very good knowledge of institutional mandates and mechanisms, especially of the functioning of the Human Rights Treaty Bodies Good analytical and research skills, including ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources and make proposals to improve the working methods of treaty bodies, and assess the degree of implementation of international human rights norms in States Parties. Good leadership skills particularly in multi-stakeholders environment. Demonstrated ability to move in a sound manner change or review processes forward. Ability to apply sound judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. 專業(yè)要求
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, human rights, political science or international relations, or other related disciplines. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Required experience:
- At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the human rights field.
- Experience in international human rights mechanisms and treaties.
- Experience in supervising staff.
Desired experience:
- Experience in human rights outreach.
- Experience working at an international organization or non-governmental organization (NGO).
語言要求
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post advertised, fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
